"Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education." — Martin Luther King Jr.

This quote captures what has been my goal in my sixteen years as an educator. Although it is an indispensable component, education isn't only about academic achievement; it's also about developing as individuals with strong principles and a sense of responsibility.

Intelligence represents the cognitive abilities and academic skills that students develop through their learning experiences. It's about equipping students with the knowledge and problem-solving skills needed to navigate the world effectively. However, character is equally important. It embodies the values that guide how students interact with others and contribute to their communities.

In my role as principal, it is my mission to foster an environment where both intelligence and character are nurtured. My goal is not only to prepare students academically, but to prepare them for life—teaching them to think critically, act with integrity, and approach challenges with resilience and empathy.

By emphasizing both aspects, we ensure that our students are not only academically proficient but also compassionate, ethical, and well-rounded individuals. I believe this approach to education helps students become leaders who make thoughtful decisions and positively impact the world around them.

I look forward to partnering with families and community members to serve the students at Benny Bills Elementary School and can be reached at Amy Rogers for more information.
